Cloud Giants Welcomes Shawn to the Team

This new year is looking to be full of exciting news and Cloud Giants is thrilled to welcome a new member to the team just days into 2019. Originally from Chapel Hill, Shawn Kuruganti brings a wealth of experience with Salesforce.

Originally from the Triangle, he holds six Salesforce certifications and is a Salesforce Certified Administrator, Platform App Builder, Platform Developer I, Sharing and Visibility Designer, Application Architect, and Architecture & Management Designer.

In his most recent role, Shawn was Salesforce Tech Analyst at Charter Communications in Charlotte, NC. While there, he worked on one of the largest and most complicated Salesforce orgs in the nation. It was valuable experience that’s helped shape his approach to Salesforce and Trailhead learning.

Glad to be back home in the Triangle, Shawn is already making an impact on the team in just his first week.

“I love Durham,” he said. “I’m excited to be back and working with so many passionate people at Cloud Giants.”

In addition to his love of Salesforce, Shawn founded the Tarpeggios, a co-ed a cappella group at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and is passionate about two-dimensional fighting video games.

This past year, he traveled to Las Vegas to compete in the Evolution Championship Series (Evo), the largest and longest-running fighting game tournament in the world.

“Coding is interesting in the same way,” Shawn said. “It uses a lot of the same if-then logic and both video games and coding ask you to find the best way to accomplish x, y, or z. There’s a right way to do something and a way that still accomplishes what you need but isn’t technically the right way to do it. A lot of that same thought process goes into fighting games.

It doesn’t hurt that Trailhead is a gamified system with ranks, badges, and points.

“Gamify anything and I’m into it,” he said.
